What is Seungsi Festival?
The region on Mt. Palgong where Donghwasa Temple is located was previously the site of Seungsi(a traditional monastic market). At Palgong Mountain area, monks used to barter daily necessities. This traditional market was held from the Goryeo to the early Joseon era.

Mt. Palgong Seungsi Festival held every October is a festival for preserving Seungsi culture as a cultural asset and for visitors all around the world to enjoy together. Korean traditional cultures and Buddhism culture such as a market for monk items, making pottery, Korean temple cuisine, lightening ceremony, folk games, etc can be experienced. This will be a good chance to learn and experience Korea’s own traditional cultures.
