Daegu Travel is introducing one of the most famous places in Daegu
where you can beat the hot summer!

Suseong Lake at romantic summer night

When one thinks of a lake in Daegu, Suseong Lake is the first to pop up in their minds. It is located 500m away from Exit number 1 of Suseong Lake Station, subway line number 3.

‘What can we do at the lake?’
If this is your concern, the best thing to do is to walk freeing your mind from any thoughts and enjoying the scenery. The walking trail around the edge of the lake is clean and wide. The grape myrtle flowers are in full bloom along the roads. Riverside flowers, such as hosta longipes, loosestrife, willow herbs, and even bistorts are beautifully blooming at the water’s edge, beside which, ducks play and enjoy the water.

As the sun sets, more people gather and enjoy riding the duck boat. As it gets darker and the yellow bowtie of the duck boats lights up, romance fills the waters.

Three or four groups busk along the edges of the land. The river breeze touches the people’s cheeks, and the hot weather is washed away by romantic music.

When people are mesmerized by the performances, the fountain at the center of the lake begins to dance along with the fancy lights. The musical fountain video can be seen from all parts of the lake so, anyone can enjoy it comfortably from the benches and deck stairs located all over the lake. The best spot is the square situated in the northern part of Suseong Lake.

It is the best place for a date or for a family picnic, because there are many places to go around the lake such as the café road, Deurangil food town and Suseong Land.

Wolgwang Riverside Park (Moonlight Riverside Park)

Walking beside the water in the moonlight.
The second place to be introduced is the Wolgwang Riverside Park(Moonlight Riverside Park).
As you enter the park, you can see the shades of huge trees. Walking along the tree-lined promenade, you can find the stone with the engraved poems of representative poets in the region.

Walking along the wall, a big pond appears. Simply looking at the wide, blue waves make one feel refreshed from the heat of summer. A deck road is built over the pond. Walking at the deck gives one the illusion of walking on top of the water, and mesmerizes people with the scenery where in the mountain and water is in complete harmony.

The Wolgwang Riverside Park is more beautiful at night. This is because of a dancing fountain show that features dancing bright lights which only takes place at night. It coolly soars up to 50m in height and soothes people’s tired minds from the hot summer.

  Ayang Railroad Bridge

Meet the sunset in the railroad that used to run over the river.

The Ayang railroad bridge is a good place to create a romantic atmosphere during a midsummer night. It is where Jiseob So and Minah Shin hugged each other in their Korean drama ‘Oh My Venus.’ It is an abandoned railway remodeled into a pretty walking trail where people can pass by.

Standing above the bridge, one can see the cool river landscape unfold at both sides and the Geumho River gently flowing underneath one’s feet. Visiting the Ayang railroad bridge at sunset is a lucky choice as one can see the best scenery of the place at this time. The sky overhead and the water beneath glows into red and is covered by the sunset. This place is where one can feel the sunset through all parts of their body. The lights of the railway slowly turns on as the sun sets.

The structure built at the middle of the bridge is a bridge museum. It displays pictures of old trains that used to pass by and features a program where in one can look at the beautiful bridges of the world. The floors of the interior is covered in glass so that the old railway can be seen, and there is also a café where people can rest for a while.

  Mt. Apsan Observatory

This place is the best spot to enjoy Daegu’s night view.
This is the number one spot for Daegu’s night scenery, cooler than the pond areas. The observatory appears if one takes the Front Mountain cable car and walks for around 10 mins along the forest road. Daegu unfolds through a 300° panorama when one stands at the observatory.

On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, the operation of the cable car is extended to 2 hours after sunset. Thus, you can safely go down the mountain after enjoying the sunset and the night view of the city. The operating hours of the cable car changes slightly depending on the season. It is recommended to check the homepage or inquire through phone before visiting.
