1. Choi Yong Seok’s Sweet Melonppang
Choi Yong Seok’s Sweet Melonppang near Myeongduk Station is one of the famous bakeries in Daegu. It is located 3 min walk from the exit 2 of Myeongduk Station so you can get to the bakery by monorail(subway line 3) or subway line 2 easily.
This bakery is also famous and popular in Japan. It is called ‘Japan’s representative bread’ because it is beloved by many Japanese people over 100 years.
The most buns are named ‘melon’ because the buns look like a melon.
They usually open from 7:00am to 19:30pm but the buns can be sold out earlier. You should visit here in early morning.

They have many stores in Daegu. As such, they are easily accessible since there are already three stores near Dongseongro - the center of Daegu.

Gachang, a suburb of Daegu is famous for Gachang Jjinppang.
You’ll see an array of steamed bun stores lining up all the way to Gachang Spa Valley. This Gachang Jjinppang street had been featured in TV shows, newspapers, and magazines several times making it famous nationwide.Jjinppang is a steamed bun stuffed with sweet red bean paste.
You will also can try Mandu(dumplings) made by hand not only jjinppang(steamed buns) in the street. The main menu items are Jjinppang, Wangmandu(big dumpling), Jjinmandu(steamed dumpling), and Kimchi mandu(Kimchi dumpling). The Jjinppang and Wangmandu is usually 3,000 per five pieces.

6. Samsong Bbangjip
Samsong Bbangjip(bakery) which used to be called Samsong Bakery has changed their store’s name recently.
This particular bakery has a very long history since its foundation in 1957. It is so famous that everyone knows about their ‘Mayakppang(addictive corn breads)’.
The main items here are mayakppang and cream cheese chewy bun, Vegetables croquette, and Korean native cattle croquette. They are not fried with oil but baked with a weak fire.
