DAM building is impressive, huge windows and very spacious areas inviting people to enjoy art and get away from the noise of the city. The Museum has five exhibition halls that show a modern art with a perfect environment that combines the modern structure with the surrounding nature.
The Museum has had very interesting exhibitions since it was opened in 2011, but actually the project began to be planned back in 1999. DAM is supported by Daegu Municipal Government, and it has been promoting Daegu art's advancement through study and the re-illumination of Daegu modern and contemporary art's historical value.
In the first and second floor are located the galleries that can be divided according to the exhibition purposes, in the third floor visitors find the Art Information Center where there are art-related books and there is also a lounge for relaxing.
During our visit to the Daegu Art Museum we could see the exhibition "YANG Fudong, The light that I feel", a very impressive display of photography and video that shows the artist perspective about life, details and aspects around family. We also visited the "Y artist project", which is a long term plan that DAM has been organizing since 2012. The current artist is Jihoon Ha, who has represented his memories of specific spaces from his own distinct perspectives using unique colors.
In the second floor we saw the "Line: Cost of Living", which presents a on a range of line works by established artists who have been active in Daegu. One important thing about this exhibition is that visitors can approach to the creation of a piece since the designing, by observing sketches made by the artists.
In the basement we found the "Home Cinema" which is part of the “2015-2016 France-Korea Years of Bilateral Exchange" Daegu Art Museum in Korea and Maison des arts de Créteil in France create these kind of exhibition for promoting culture and art between the two nations. Home Cinema shows a vision of the modern cinema, techniques, special effects and some other features related to the movie world and also combine the classic movie making.
